The Claypool Lennon Delirium- Monolith of Phobos

THE greatest bassist mixing with the son of THE greatest songwriter ever, how could this not be amazing. Les Claypool brought his talents to mesh with Sean Lennon’s.  This duo brought the world some incredible music.

These 2 put together a fantastic band and an excellent premier album. A 2 disc, 4 sided, gold colored vinyl record. Side A has their first single they put out, “Cricket and the Genie”.  A fun song they combined to make very odd.

Side B has my favorite song on the album, “Mr. Wright.” An extremely weird and creepy song about a guy watching you.  With lyrics like:

He likes to watch her pee, he’s trembling with glee
He sets up little cameras ‘cause he likes to watch her pee
What a dirty little bastard he can be

I don’t know what this says about me.

The next 2 discs continue some strange and eery music that I just love. Songs with chants, odd songs about drugs and songs that would make for excellent choices ona  Primus album.

Claypool and Lennon are geniuses here and need to continue this.  Listening to this album is a warped trip in both their minds. Last time I saw a Claypool band put together that wasn’t Primus was Oysterhead. The Claypool Lennon Delirium is as a close 2nd to Oysterhead.

To be completely honest seeing them live, which I got to in September 2016, is a better way to experience them then on an album. They jammed some Beatles and Floyd, while Claypool solo’d the encores with some Primus. But this record is a fun one to listen to, especially if you like funky and crazy music.
