‘Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes’ can’t be more of a chill, drink a fruity drink by the beach album then it already is. Listening to Jimmy Buffett just puts you in that vacation mood any time of the year, week or day. There is no way to listen to this record and think anything else but sand between your toes.
It starts with the self titled track, “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes” which is a fan favorite. The rest of Side A is beyond chill and relaxing to listen to, whether you recognize the song or not. Love the congos, harmonica and strings added to the back of these songs.
Side B starts with a monster hit and maybe the biggest song he’s ever had, “Margaritaville.” There aren’t many songs that gets everyone dancing, singing and happy all at once no matter who you are. SALT SALT SALT! After this amazing cliche of a song you get some jazzy and funky songs with “Biloxi” and “Landfall.”
Everything about this record reminds me of the heat and beaches growing up in Florida. Jimmy Buffett is a masterpiece in this genre and its been 40 years since this record came out. 40 years later and we all can love this album still.
